Each year on the dawn of Ammavasya (new moon), the glittering diyas (oil lamps), the dazzling fireworks, sounds of firecracker announces the arrival of the most vibrant festival of India- Diwali. The word Diwali has its origin in the Sanskrit word ‘Deepawali’ which means “rows of light”. People from all religion forget their differences and get together to celebrate this vivacious festival of lights. Every home, be it a hut or a mansion is decorated with illuminating Diyas and candles. The entrance are ornamented with flowers and rangolis (form of sand painting decoration that uses colors and is used commonly outside homes in India).
